Plant-Based Typeface

The Big Idea: Painted type with zero impact_

The great Tina Touli gave me some excellent advice: taking inspiration from the physical world can be a great way to come up with unique design solutions. I wanted to take this idea and challenge myself to create something futuristically optimistic. Since attending an amazing talk given by Lennie Gray Mowris a few months back, I’ve been trying to approach design as a responsibility to that physical world. So I made this plant-based typeface. It was created by shining light through paste produced by the aloe vera succulent. No toxic paint. No waste. The paste dries and evaporates after use. Here’s to the impactful ladies who inspired this process!
